Matalan Doodle Jumpers {What They Wore}

Alongside my blog goal this year of writing more fashion posts from me I also wanted to write and document more of what the girls wore too. I absolutely love dressing them, well it is probably less about dressing them now than guiding their choices, but I love to share those moments with them, to share style and see what their tastes are now and how they evolve in the coming years.Gone may be the days when I can choose what to buy, or dress Eva in (who am I kidding she has almost always been difficult to sway) but now it is fascinating to see what she likes and that her little sister just wants to follow suit. Of course with Roma we have all of Eva’s old clothes as I kept absolutely everything and I love that we get to re-live Eva’s early memories aswell as to make new ones in them but sometimes, when Eva chooses new clothes, we just have to get it for both of them. I usually love nothing more than coordinating them and am not generally into full on matching but sometimes again, you have to make an exception.

At the moment they love to match, they choose it, they share it and we have even come to a point where they want to coordinate so much that I have had to actually get them changed because they come out of their rooms, independently dressed, to find that they don’t match. Oh the horror! So I’ll be honest, I’m going to take it whilst I can!

A few weeks ago Eddy had come back from town and shockingly (because he rarely clothes shops for the girls alone) had bought these jumpers from matalan for a bargain £5 each, not on sale, just a reasonable price and we all adore them (so much so in fact that we got them in the bigger sizes too so expect to see them feature for quite a while! In fact seen as Roma will wear Eva’s old ones too it could be a fair few years! Are we the only ones that do that??) To say Eddy was proud of himself would be an understatement. Although now of course he sees himself as chief shopper. This could turn out to be the beginning of the end of that!

When choosing clothes they are definitely more jeans and a jumper girls than pretty frilly dresses so this doodle jumper is perfect. It is probably more like a sweatshirt than jumper actually as the material is quite thin so perfect for layering and then with the good old British weather they can be ideal for pretty much any season, cool summer evenings or spring and autumn where it isn’t quite cold enough for a coat or warm enough for a tshirt. Thankfully they are even warm enough for the brief period of time when you ask them to take their coats off on a cold January day to take some photos. Thankfully cuddles and running around the beautiful Elvaston castle grounds peeking out of bushes is enough to sway anyone! Until of course one child goes too far, misses the signs and squeezes the other too tight when she doesn’t want a hug…I almost didn’t include this last photo but it does make me laugh!

Like I said we don’t usually full on match but occasionally we love it, after all how do you choose who gets the item of clothing you like? Pick a favourite child? Head or tails? I wouldn’t want to be unfair so if you think about it matching them is good parenting at its best. No favourites here.

xx

    I love these jumpers – so cool! My girls tend to match, mainly for the reason that you say. If I like something I don’t feel like I can just buy it one child!!! I will have to pop to Matalan and have a look at their kids clothes, I always hear such good stuff about their range. #sharingthebloglove

    They’re lovely jumpers and gorgeous photos. I wish boyswear sections had nice jumpers like this – for N’s age they’re all black, grey or dull colours with skulls on now he’s in the over 6s clothing sizes. #sharingthebloglove

    Ah they are so cute and a great price. Andy has never brought any clothes for the girls, I’m not sure he would do as a good job. We definitely do the hand me down, it gives me more excuse to buy clothes because I say it will go through them both! Thank you for joining us at #SharingtheBlogLove

    Ah, such cute jumpers, I love them! I never shop in Matalan, I might have to look up if there’s one near us. Max is still at the stage where he loves to match, so although they don’t have anything matching at the moment, I have a few things lined up for summer – I’m going to make the most of it while he’s still happy to! And that last photo is brilliant, I love it. Thanks for joining us at #SharingtheBlogLove
