My Family Adventures – February

My Family Adventures February

February has felt long and short all in one go. This post feels like it is being written in the middle of the month despite having just a few days to go until the turn of the calendar, yet it also seems like we have fit so much in too. We have spent an increasing amount of time outside, I have had my camera in hand loads more and I am even daring to dream of spring! Although the forecast for this week is looking very unlikely and we might slip back into hibernation mode pretty quickly! We have had Roma’s 3rd birthday, lot of family time and I had my haircut for the first time in almost a year! I just have to keep that up now!

The first weekend was spent celebrating with a trip to the Sealife Centre, lunch out and a trip to snow play. She had a really lovely simple birthday and it was perfect to spend it together. Eddy and I even braved softplay on the day itself with her as although it is my idea of absolute hell, she does love it and it was nice to do something just for her as Eddy took the day off work and Eva was at school. I am actually dreading the day I have to send Roma to school for her birthday having not had to experience it ever with Eva! Can she not be sick that day!?

Roma is feeling very grown up, as they always do around a birthday, and she is definitely a proper little girl now. There really is no toddler left in my eyes, or hers for that matter. She is a little mini me right now though and so many people are commenting recently how much she does look like me. Bless her! She is the funniest little character though and given the choice I would freeze her at this age! We got some boxes out of the loft of Eva’s old 3-4 clothes (because I did keep pretty much everything!) I can’t quite believe that some she will outgrow in weeks though rather than last her the whole year. As Eva was 4 when Roma was born and quite little for her age it is so lovely and strange to see Roma wearing clothes that were so apparent in the simple moments of their first days and months together. Eddy and I both had a little cry at the top that Eva wore when we told her she was having a sister and remembering how happy she was! I also can’t help but smile at her now wearing the bigger size of the matchy matchy things we used to put them in! Time really does fly by doesn’t it?

After her birthday though I feel like February whilst a little tough in parts is basically about waiting for the spring and it seems I am not alone in that! I cheered up the dreary month by booking Disneyland Paris on a bit of a whim for October half term so although I haven’t told the children yet (I am not utterly crazy) I am really glad there is something planned for this year and something to look forward to once the wonderfulness of Spring and Summer are over. We are so excited. Not that I am wishing it away, far from it!

In between trips and days out we have been trying to put finishing touches to a lot of house bits and bobs. We had a new bed and Eva had ours. She feels like the queen of the castle in her double bed for sure and now spends a lot of time at her desk or reading Harry Potter in her room. We are therefore finally finishing her woodland themed room and I am really enjoying shopping for house bits. We may have been here almost 5 years but it is just feeling like we are at a place in our lives where it is all coming together, you know now we don’t have pregnancy or babies in the mix!

This last week has been half term for us and it has been a busy one seeing friends old and new and making the most of the time together. Eva definitely needs to socialise these days and so simple days at home are mostly out of the question without at least a little walk out. She is growing up so much lately, it can be challenging at times as we learn as much as she does about parenting this age and there is a huge gap in her top row of teeth for the first time that feels like epitome of this change,oh my gosh does she look different.

Lastly this weekend, today in fact, I have been doing a talk at the NEC Caravan, Camping and Motorhome Show for a brand I have worked with on a glamping trip last year. It is something that I am really passionate about and an experience we all absolutely loved so although it pushed me way, way out of my comfort zone I am so pleased I did it and even a little proud of myself. I am definitely most comfortable here behind the computer but it’s good to get out there sometimes too and it was a pleasure working with them again.

I won’t lie, although we have had lots of fun and good times this month, I am glad that February is coming to a close and even though I know the turn of a calendar means nothing really, its always nice to feel like you can start afresh.

xx

What a gorgeous selection of photos, I love those years before school when you can enjoy the birthday on the actual day. School definitely gets in the way of that. I love the sunlight in the house, gorgeous capture and thanks for hosting with me

How exciting that you’re off to Disneyland Paris in October – the girls will be s excited when you tell them! We loved meeting up with you over half term – my girls have talked of little else ever since. I’m glad to see the back of February too – it’s a tough month for many reasons. Roll on Spring and more adventures outdoors 🙂

Your photos are so beautiful Laura. February seems to have just flown by, in comparison to how January just dragged on. I hope March is a fantastic month for us all 🙂 This is my 1st time linking up, thank you for hosting x

So many lovely photos! It’s nice to get outdoors and feel like spring is coming, isn’t it? Well, today, I’m not exactly getting the spring vibes with all the snow, but you see what I mean: longer days, fun outdoors 🙂 Happy birthday to Roma. Yep, that’s it. Toddler days are over!! You’ve got a little big girl now.

It sounds like February had to right mix of productivity and fun for you and your family. Booking a trip in a good few months in advance is always nice as you have something to look forward to – and Disney; exciting!

Once again, lovely photos – both indoor & out. #MyFamilyAdventures

I watched the video of you doing a little talk at the event and thought it was great you were pushing yourself beyond your comfort zone. I totally agree with you about how the children grow up so quickly too. My eldest is petite but her sister is catching her up as she eats so much. #MyFamilyAdventures
