The Caravan, Camping & Motorhome Show {with Experience Freedom}

Caravan Camping Motorhome Show NEC 2018 Experience Freedom

If you have read this blog before or watch my youtube channel you may know that last year we tried glamping for the first time with Experience Freedom. You may also know therefore just how much we loved it. Naturally we thought we would have a good time but I have to admit it was even better than we could have imagined, especially for a very much none camping family like us, and by us I of course mean me!

Seriously though, I will happily gush about it to anyone that asks, and that is a lot. Everyone is fascinated with the idea of connecting to the great outdoors without having to sacrifice home comforts and now I know why. So when Experience Freedom got in touch again to ask if I would present a talk about our visit on their stand at the Caravan, Camping and Motorhome Show at the NEC I was delighted, if a little nervous! I am definitely most comfortable sat here where I am now behind my computer tapping away at the keys than talking, but I am also one, like glamping, to seek new things to do and to push myself out of that comfort zone.

The show itself was brilliant, there was of course halls full to the brim with caravans, motorhomes, tents, all mod cons you would need if that is your thing and the girls loved looking round them all and having a good nosey. In fact they were fascinated with all of the ways in which you can get all you need into such a space! I might have a couple of motorhome enthusiasts. It was also packed with free activities for the children and they loved exploring the vast space.

There was a climbing wall which Roma really wanted to go on, unfortunately we didn’t get time to do as it was very popular – though I am now going to take her to a climbing wall this week and I have never seen her so happy than when I told her. She cried bless her all the way out when we couldn’t go on but it did look so fun.

Joining this was a skate rink, an inflatable slide where you sat in a rubber ring and Roma came speeding down so fast, she is a little daredevil that one, and a big hit was all the huge deckchairs dotted around from various brands.

There were plenty of yurts and pods to look at too and if you wanted to get a sense of glamping (without the wonderful outdoors of course) then you really did get the feel here, they even did bushcraft in one of the yurts. The dog arena was a big hit with my sister who came along with us and the woodland trust rest area complete with assault course for the children really did mean there was plenty to not only see but to do aswell.

On the experience Freedom stand there was an amazing campfire, colourful chairs and the girls were so proud when they saw themselves on the screen at the back where they were running some of our vlog footage, and I was too of course, not to mention the marshmallows they were handing out!

It isn’t a chore for me at all to talk about Experience Freedom like I have said before we are passionate about the brand and the concept and I think the talk went well. There are a number of factors which mean we are not able to do alot of things that we would like to so glamping allows us the opportunity to get involved, show the children the great outdoors and really get back to nature as much as we can, comfortably. To get back to the simple life which we all need every now and again and glamping really can open up the world to practically anyone. You don’t have to be made of sterner stuff, be a dab hand at fire lighting or withstand cold nights and a hard floor, you really can enjoy all the outdoors has to offer, hear the birds sing in the morning and feel the fresh air, from a comfy bed with a hot coffee in hand.

I guess some camping traditionalists might frown upon this glamping but hey, if it gets the unlikely to love the outdoors and a new generation getting back to nature then I am all for it. Here’s to our next glamping adventure and if you want to have one of your own I highly recommend giving Experience Freedom a try.

And yes this is the most flattering photo that I could find of my talk (ie not flattering at all) apparently it is hard to take a good photo whilst you’re speaking!

I made a quick snapshot of the day in video too if you want to see some of the things we got up to on the day.

**Thank you to Experience Freedom and The Caravan and Motorhome Club for working with us, inviting us to the Caravan, Camping & Motorhome Show and asking me to talk. All words, pictures and content are my own.

    That name is superb and I am all for anything that takes us into new environments and gives us time outdoors too more than in everyday life. #SharingtheBlogLove

    Well done for getting up and giving a talk! I’m absolutely with you, I think glamping is such a great idea, especially for people like me, who aren’t the biggest fans of camping and maybe need a bit of easing into it all. We’re planning on a glamping trip sometime this year or next, and my husband is hoping I’ll embrace proper camping after that. We’ll see! Thanks for joining us at #SharingtheBlogLove

    Well done for speaking. I loved the show the year we went (although I went to upgrade my tent and get some good deals and there weren’t any we couldn’t get online because it wasn’t individual tent brands or company, instead they were all represented by one outdoor brand. It’s great fun though, but insanely busy. #sharingthebloglove

    We had our first experience glamping this year and we too are a non-camping family and we loved it. It’s definitely won us over and we’re keen to try it again. Well done for going out of your comfort zone and getting up to talk. Thank you for joining us at #SharingtheBlogLove
