Happy 6th Birthday Eva Dee

Happy 6th Birthday Foggy field with balloon

Dear Eva

Today, at 3.46pm exactly, you turned 6 years old. 6 whole years since you came into this world, this world that would not be the same without you in it. In fact you pretty much make ours. People say that a baby turns your world upside down but I can tell you that you definitely turned mine the right way up and from that very moment we have been a team. Continue reading →

Me and Mine – August 2016

Sunset beach family picture france

Wow, what a month this has been. August I have to say has been anything but ordinary and probably a month that I will remember fondly for the rest of my life. As I sat down to write last months Me and Mine post we were on the Ferry to France for the start of our big adventure. And now all of a sudden we are on the return leg of our journey and it seems only fitting to be sat once again on the ferry writing this post. Yet now we are not full of excitement of what August may hold, what adventures we could have and how beautiful the beach would be. We are full of happiness, we have the amazing memories we have made along the way and a reinvigorated love of travel. An Adult Tonsillectomy and Forced “Me Time”

DSC_5294

Two weeks ago today I had a tonsillectomy, and I know it seems strange to refer to an operation as “me time” but you see I am not very good at the whole me time thing. I am so aware of how days, weeks and years fly by with young children that I find myself just wanting to make the most of it, to make their world a perfect place and try to soak up every moment, enjoy it and not miss a single second. Garden Fun, Experiments and Bubbles {The Ordinary Moments #24}

Garden Experiments

As I sit and write this it is Saturday evening and it is raining, raining so heavily in fact that it woke me up! After a lovely but busy day celebrating the Mr’s birthday we put my Little Ladies to bed and I lay there on mine to ensure all was quiet and they were in fact asleep before I went downstairs, just like I do every night, yet within minutes it was me whom was asleep. Fast forward 2 hours and the drumming of the rain on the open windows, the water spitting on the windowsill was enough to wake me and realise I needed to come and write this post. Continue reading →

Pre-Bedtime Cuddles {The Ordinary Moments #21}

Bedtime Cuddles

This week has been a very ordinary one, very busy filled with work, school, the Mr working and out alot and me doing plenty of solo parenting and bedtimes, the usual household shopping,  cooking, cleaning and days going by without you even realising it. So ordinary that I contemplated not writing a post this week, that really I had nothing to say and no particular photos to share either. Continue reading →

The Yellow Fields

Rapeseed Fields

We are lucky here in the fact that although we live on the outskirts of a town there is so much countryside all around and you only have to drive a few minutes before there are fields and trees adorning the landscape everywhere you look. There is something about the countryside, the open air and the view for miles that instill a sense of calm for me, a contentment that nothing else can match. I always feel like I could easily just plant myself in the middle of it on a picnic blanket with a book and have the children running around me in their own little world of adventure. A Trampoline {The Ordinary Moments #18}

Trampoline Fun

For us as a family the prospect of a big celebration, Christmas, Easter, birthdays, they always come with a degree of trepidation. I have written before here about E, she has multiple allergies including food allergies and in a society with food and specifically chocolate and treats dominating celebrations more and more every single event comes with forward planning here. Unfortunately we do receive a tricky response to her allergies sometimes and especially since E started school in September it has been tricky that she isn’t invited to parties or that the parents or even the school are worried about what she may or may not be able to eat and feeling different. Yet here, in her own house she is just like the rest of us, her safety net, her happy place. Continue reading →

Me and Mine – April 2016

Family Me and Mine

At the moment I really wish time would slow down just a little bit, for life to give me a few more seconds in every minute to really take in the world around me and the people that are in it. I mean how is April over already? I am acutely aware of the days, weeks and months slipping by me and my Little Ladies growing and changing more with each passing moment. Continue reading →
